Michael Kirby is an accomplished Senior Executive with more than 25 years of success across the financial services, commodities, banking, technology, private equity and angel investing industries. Michael has lived in the US, London and Hong Kong while holding Global Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer positions with Noble Group, The James Alpha Liquid GSE Fund, Sempra Commodities & RBS and senior positions with Deutsche Bank, NationsBank and Morgan Stanley and has held day to day responsibility for teams of 1,700+ personal producing in excess of $2B in annual revenue

 

Noted successes include: 

  • Divested four Noble Group businesses including 3 over a four-month period, generating total proceeds in excess of $2B

  • Managed asset transfers and servicing arrangements for businesses with asset value exceeding $20B for Sempra Commodities global oil, metals, and gas/power trading businesses

  • Developed strategic plans and infrastructure enhancements for RBS Europe to support 50%+ revenue growth to $1.5B annual

  • Managed development of strategic plans and implemented infrastructure enhancements for RBS Asia-Pacific that increased revenue four-fold and profitability seven-fold over a two-year period, exceeding targets by $100M and $90M, respectively, while reducing costs by 22%

  • Managed the separation & integration of the largest ever banking acquisition (RBS’ acquisition of ABN Amro) in the most complex region in the world (Asia-Pacific).  Activities included separating businesses between 3 acquisition partners, divestment of orphan businesses and the negotiation of unprecedented regulatory concessions   

 

Michael holds a BBA in Finance and Business Economics from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has held board positions with CipherPoint Software and Anthem Entertainment Group.
